    High West Yippee Ki-Yay is one of the most innovative and sought-after rye whiskeys ever released. Introduced in 2015 by High West Distillery in Park City, Utah, this expression pushed the boundaries of American whiskey by finishing a carefully crafted blend of straight rye whiskeys in French oak barrels that previously held California vermouth and Syrah wine. The result? A completely unique spirit that bridges the worlds of whiskey and wine with remarkable complexity. In July 2020, High West announced the discontinuation of Yippee Ki-Yay, instantly elevating remaining bottles to collector status.

    The blend draws from three distinct sources: a 95% rye mash bill from MGP in Indiana, a 53% rye from Barton 1792 in Kentucky, and High West's own 80% rye distillate from Utah. On the nose, expect enticing aromas of cinnamon, chocolate-covered cherries, toasted oak, brown sugar, and a whisper of mesquite. The palate delivers a harmonious balance of cinnamon, vanilla, aromatic cedar, bright cherries, and a subtle hint of anise. The finish is smooth and memorable—lingering cinnamon, fresh raspberries, and a touch of licorice fade gracefully. Even the color is striking: a blushing strawberry blonde with rose gold highlights from the wine cask influence.
